One of the most wonderful perks top-class hotels provide is the use of their soft, clean, and fresh white towels. Many hotel guests agree that the warmth and tenderness treated from the softness and fluffiness of their towels would always make you want to feel the same at home.

The laundry experts of Edmonds House Cleaning teams know many hotel secrets.

As part of your House Cleaning regimen, these House Cleaning gurus shared some tips on making your home towels as soft, fluffy, and clean as hotel towels.

Hotel Standard Towels

According to our House Cleaning teams, to achieve hotel-quality towels, you have to follow hotel purchasing standards. Hotels buy towels with superior quality materials that can durably withstand multiple washes and are highly absorbent. Most hotels prefer 100% cotton fabric with a 400-600 GSM rating.

Hotel Laundry Process

Some staff from Edmonds House Cleaning teams were trained by hotel professionals. They say that most hotels follow the same techniques in washing towels.

STEP 1: Remove the Stains

Soak towels in a pot of water with a generous amount of baking soda and less laundry detergent. Boil for 30 minutes. Squeeze out water. This step can be skipped if there are no major stains.

STEP 2: Water Flush

In running water, flush towels to get rid of detergent and baking soda build-up, dust, grimes, and loose fibers.

STEP 3: Warm Wash Cycle

Load towels unto the laundry machine filled with water with a temperature range found efficient in disinfecting and removing dirt (104°F to 140°F) since cold water cannot kill bacteria, while hot water can damage the fabric. It is also ideal to fill your tanks by only about 80% of its capacity to optimize the mechanical action and flow of your laundry during the cycle. Run the cleaning cycle for 15 minutes.

STEP 4: Use Vinegar

Pour 1-2 cups of distilled white vinegar while in the cycle and let it run for another 30 minutes. House Cleaning masters attest that the high content of acetic acid in vinegar is found to be good in degreasing, disinfecting, and deodorizing, aside from acting as a replacement to fabric softeners that contain harsh chemicals that can decrease the absorbency of the towels.

STEP 5: Final Rinse

Drain the water with vinegar and fill the tank with warm water again. Run the cycle for a 10-minute rinse.

STEP 6: Dry

Do not overcrowd your spin dryers to allow heat to flow freely in between sheets. House Cleaning experts still regard hanging the towels outdoors as ideal after machine-drying. Shake them before folding. Make sure that towels are sufficiently dried. Under-drying can cause the settling of mildew while over-drying can damage the fiber.

Edmonds House Cleaning teams strongly advise regular cleaning of your laundry machines to avoid the growth of bacteria and mildew that can be transferred to your linens when in use. If you need deep cleaning of your machines, let the House Cleaning professionals do it for you.
